Attitude is EVERYTHING

Hi everyone!

Well on this gloomy Friday morning here is Louisiana, as we await some more "Fall" like temperatures, my precious husband and I have decided to go on an adventure.

While I cannot wait to start creating some new items for fall, with all of the work that we have accomplished lately, it is just time to take a much needed break.

So where do us creative, artsy types go???  Well to Durio's Curios of course!!

My dear friend Liz owns this precious little shop in Opelousas, Louisiana.  It will be the perfect place for us to explore; enjoy this rainy fall day; and become inspired!!  After all, it is not about the weather conditions outside, it is about our attitude in our hearts that determines how we will take on our day!!

So wish us safe travels until I write tomorrow!!

Hi everyone!

Yes, I know it has been quite a while since I last wrote, but sometimes one needs to step back from life to catch her breath so she can then move forward! When I first began this journey my goal was to have my little cottage in the woods truly reflect my business name.  By this what I mean is that I wanted that first impression when someone walked through my front door to be that of "WOW, this IS Curiosity Cottage!"  However, being a single mom and juggling oh so many hats, it was hard for me to find the time to accomplish this goal.

Fast forward 8 months and in just a few short days this goal will be a reality!!  How on earth did I accomplish this???  Well it just so happens that God has blessed me with a wonderfully creative, compassionate, caring, and cute new husband who over these past several months has been by my side helping us reach this goal together!!  A cottage by its very nature is small, so we have had to accomplish a lot to get everything where we want in order to further our creative endeavors.  So I find myself exhausted, but it is a most rewarding feeling.

What even thrills me more is that Michael, my adorable new Helpmate, did not know me when my embroidery and sewing were at their busiest - before I broke my arm and lost my mom.  So all I can do these days is smile and tell him, "Just wait, you have no idea what is fixing to happen!!"  With the holidays fast approaching, he will soon also be able to sit back and say "WOW, we have created Curiosity Cottage!!"

I'll keep you posted...wish us luck!!
